Barco is a Stockholm-based platform created in Stockholm by Dinis Machado in 2012 for the production of their own choreographic work as well as the work of other choreographers, weaving relations and artist development through projects that promote sharing practices and production networks. As an artist run platform, Barco colaborates with small scale independent artists.
Barco focuses in post somatic choreography developed from the materiality of dance and bodies and it's political implications within intersectional politics and dramaturgies crossing queer, disable and POC questions and discourses.
Without the overhead costs of its own space, Barco projects itself as a platform where production unfolds in partnerships with venues and institutions. It maximizes it's investment in the production of content, namely in artists salaries (in an field that we see as extremely scarce on work opportunities) while populating the programming of venues.
